COREtec at Royalty — Quick Facts
Why People Ask for COREtec by Name
The short version: COREtec invented the rigid-core plank category, and it still makes the version most installers trust. Before it existed, "vinyl" meant a thin sheet or a click plank that needed a perfectly flat floor. COREtec's engineered core made luxury vinyl stable enough to float over imperfect subfloors, quiet enough for bedrooms and waterproof enough for basements.
That is why it shows up in search boxes as a brand rather than a category. People who have had it in a previous house ask for it again; people whose neighbour has it ask for it by name.
What a dealer adds is the part the brand cannot: which of its lines belongs in your room. A WPC Original in a bedroom and an SPC Pro in a kitchen with two dogs are different decisions, and we make them every week.

Free Measure. Firm Written Price.

What Drives the Price of a COREtec Floor
The collection first. Originals, Pro and Plus sit at different points, and within each the wear layer is the number that matters — 12 mil suits a quiet spare room, 20 mil is what belongs in a kitchen or a house with dogs. A cheap COREtec quote is very often a thin wear layer or a look-alike brand.
Then square footage, tear-out and disposal of the old floor, subfloor levelling, and stairs and transitions. Basements diverge most, because slab moisture mitigation is real work.
We do not publish a per-square-foot figure because it would be wrong for most homes. Call 845-831-4774 for a free measure and a firm written price. Financing is available.
COREtec Flooring — Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I buy COREtec flooring near Poughkeepsie or Wappingers Falls?
At Royalty Carpet & Flooring, 1615 Route 9, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 — open Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 6pm. We are an Abbey Flooring Center member dealer, which is how a family showroom carries COREtec alongside Karndean, Shaw and Mohawk. Call 845-831-4774 to check what is on the floor before you drive out; the rest of the range is available to order.
Is COREtec sold at Home Depot or Lowe's?
Not the full COREtec line. The big-box stores carry a related budget brand, SMARTCORE, which is made by the same parent company but built to a different spec — typically a thinner wear layer. The COREtec Originals, Pro and Plus collections are sold through flooring dealers like Royalty, where you also get a measured quote and professional installation rather than a cart.
What is the difference between COREtec Originals, Pro and Plus?
They differ mainly in the core and the wear layer. Originals is the WPC line — a wood-plastic composite core that is warmer and quieter underfoot. Pro is the SPC line — a denser stone-plastic core that resists dents and is the usual choice for kitchens, commercial spaces and houses with big dogs. Plus adds an attached cork underlayment and thicker planks. We will put all three under your feet in the showroom; the difference is obvious once you stand on them.
Is COREtec really waterproof?
Yes — the plank itself does not absorb water, so a spill, a pet accident or a dishwasher leak that sits overnight does not swell it the way it would swell laminate. Two honest caveats: water can still get under a floating floor through the edges and needs to be dried, and a basement slab that gives off moisture needs a vapour barrier no matter how waterproof the plank. We check for both during the measure.
How much does COREtec flooring cost installed?
Installed price depends on the collection and wear layer you choose, square footage, whether old flooring has to come up and be disposed of, how much subfloor levelling the room needs, and details like stairs and transitions. We do not quote per square foot sight unseen, because that number is nearly always wrong. We measure in person and give you one firm written price — call 845-831-4774 for a free estimate.
Can COREtec go in a basement or over radiant heat?
Both, with the right prep. Rigid-core COREtec installs below grade over concrete with a suitable underlayment or vapour barrier, and most collections are rated for radiant heat within the manufacturer's temperature limits. Tell us during the measure and we will specify the right line and underlayment rather than guessing.
